Write what you believe, believe what you write.

We know we have a set of principles, values, and beliefs. Whether we acknowledge their presence and very deeply know them is another matter. The context of this blog is my discovery of the impact of writing and belief.

As I got older, I started to observe that there were some things that I did like and some I did not. I started to wonder why this happened. Then, after much reading and introspection, I realized that every time a situation or statement I hear, it bounces off my principles, values, and beliefs, and there is either for example, a confirmation, a non-confirmation, indecision, an acceptance, an acknowledgement or something else anew.

I also observed that with every second passing, this experience would repeat itself and its intensity would remain constant at times. As time passed, my quest to find some way out of this became a priority, as it also drained a lot of my energy, and I used to feel tired.

One of my friends told me about a practice that he followed. He used to write down his beliefs, principles, and values and observe how they work in his daily life. This sounded like the perfect solution for me. I almost jumped out of my chair as I realized that at last, I have a way out of this.

I started to write and then tried to observe as my friend had guided me. In the beginning, I did not see any impact. For me at that time, it was just to take paper and a pen and write. I didn’t even know where I had kept it. I went back to my friend and explained this process. He said you need to read it daily and keep reminding yourself to observe.

With this new insight, I started to follow this religiously. Then things started to happen, my acceptance levels went up, and I knew what was happening and why. This gave me a lot of relief, peace, and happiness. This was, in short, a victory of sorts.

Today, as I write this blog, the exercise continues, as it’s said, the discovery and learning about oneself is something we must do for a lifetime.
