“Things that influence us draft the course of our life”.
One of my favorite leadership gurus, John C. Maxwell, said, “Leadership is influence.” I believe this completely as true as I experienced this in my life.
Influence and its impact is a continuum. This was my realization. As usual, it occurred to me one day out of the blue. This realization made me think hard, and I found that things that I get influenced by are one of the major factors in my decision-making process. Ultimately my decisions determine my life’s movement.
I did see the entire connection on numerous occasions. I also saw how thoughts are garnered to provide more impetus to things to create an influence and how these find their way as an element of decision-making.
Another important aspect is the level of influence that’s happened or created for a thing is directly proportional to the level of influence it has on the decision-making and therefore the impact of the decision.
As I observed this more and more, initially it was painful as I could do nothing about it. But with awareness and being a spectator to myself, I found that I could help the process to pause and relook, and this helped in develop a better perspective and therefore better decision-making.
Ultimately I realised that things that influence us do draft the course of our life. It only depends on the intensity of the influence and its importance during decision-making.
