“Positivity in any form always has the highest listening.”

The great internal debate that had started to breed until it became a major internal fire was about listening. I realized that I was internally very choosy about what I wanted to listen to but did not know much about the impact that listening has on me. Many times when I am given criticisms for my actions or executions of tasks either at home or at work, they are often not taken in the letter and spirit of what it was meant to be. Somehow, my meanings and justifications got through and I made a mix of the criticism and my explanations, in which I found temporary solace.

One day at the workplace, I did get appreciated for some work and felt the positivity. At the same time, towards the end of the day, at home, I got criticized for buying an expensive pair of jeans. I suddenly realized that I was “all ears” when positive feedback was given but reacted when criticism was meted out. The quote above was the wonderful insight that happened after a while of contemplation and understanding.
