“Life is in feeling, experiencing, and not in meaning and understanding.”
What is life? It was paradoxical and enigmatic at the same time. I tried my best to decipher Life in my own way. Over the years, though this question persisted, I put it on the back burner in light of life’s needs and priorities.
One day, at a gathering at my house with friends and relatives present, Life and living suddenly became the topic. There were discussions galore and at length, with each one sharing their perceptions and judgments about life eloquently.
It was at this time that the question in me, which was on the back burner for a long time, suddenly surfaced. I was engrossed in the conversation, but for some reason became a keen listener, and that level of listening I had not experienced before. The input from the group seemed to get inside me very clearly and I could make out the impact it made.
A Profound realization hit me. I realized that Life is an experience and not something that I can or need to understand. Thereafter, the journey to look at life only as an experience began. As I write this, I am still on the path to look at life as an experience in all its facets. The journey is on, and someday I hope that I will be able to look at every day as an experience in its totality.
