“ Drop the crutches. The more you are unsure; the more is your faith.”
There have been days when I have very strongly relied on my strengths and the elements of my comfort zone to get along with my life.
Well, it did give me a sense of security and goodness. However, when it came to scalability, it was becoming an issue as I had to tread unchartered waters. This was giving me a lot of discomfort due to a conflict within me. On one side, I wanted the status quo to be maintained, and on the other, venturing into uncharted water had promises of growth and development. In this melee I was in, I found that my biggest show-stopper was my fear of the unknown. Another interesting fact was that my comfort zone was a product of fear. I realized that the extent to which we are willing to walk away from our comfort zone, and take risks is directly dependent on the extent of fear within and how big a showstopper it has placed on us and wanted us to navigate our life within the envelope of fear.
I was completely aware of what was happening and what dynamics were at work, and slowly with incremental steps I started to venture into unchartered territories taking small leaps of faith. I realized that once I dropped the crutches of my comfort zone my faith in myself increased tremendously and I started to feel more confident than before. More importantly, I felt free from the crutches. It was a great beginning and whenever I do think of this episode, it is very inspiring to me.
